Staying Connected With Technology

Beverly Moore

Quincy - StilMee was recently part of a pilot program at Rogerson House in Jamaica Plain using a computer program called Connected Living Now, a service of My Way Village of Quincy. Photos, songs, film clips and pictures evoked so many memories for the residents, all of whom have memory loss. Stories were remembered, positive experiences recalled and smiles and laughter shared with the coach working with the resident. Those memories were transcribed and sent to family members to enjoy. In turn, family members sent photos, videos and greetings via the portal.

In March ‘Connected Living Now at Home’ will become available for families who care for a family member with memory loss at home. We know it is hard to structure time with meaningful activities for the person with memory loss. This program solves the problem. For a small amount monthly a caregiver can use a personalized program that is enjoyable, simple to use and will provide quality time for both the caregiver and the care recipient. In addition, family in distant places can share the journey. Memoirs are precious. There is so much more left of memories than is taken away with Alzheimer’s. A person is the total of his or her experiences and to be shared with those who love them. Connected Living Now at Home can be purchased through www.mywayvillage.com. We are excited about adding this much needed service to our StilMee coaching program.
